12RB002 Announced - Pre-Order Now!
I am very pleased to announce the final tracklisting for the upcoming second release on Repetitive Beats, 12RB002 -- the "Into The Woods" EP! Joining us this time around are three well-respected names in the hardcore breaks scene; Sharkfin Records head honcho Simon Holmes, Finnish breakbeat masters Nervous+Anxious, and KFA Records nutter yet all-around nice guy DJ Deluxe! The tracklisting is:

A1: DJ Purity Control - "Into The Woods"
      A2: Simon Holmes - "Don't Look Back"
      B1: Nervous+Anxious - "Twisted Mental"
B2: DJ Deluxe - "Bad Feeling"

Starting things off, we have yours truly DJ Purity Control with the title track "Into The Woods", a claustrophobic piece of darkness carved out of a nightmarish jungle techno template, with utensils such as eerie horror movie samples, dark synths, a subsonic bassline, cut-up and layered classic breakbeats, and a rave-stab filled breakdown. The second track on the A-side, "Don't Look Back" comes to us from Simon Holmes of Sharkfin Records, and as usual he's crafted a sublime track, filled with melancholy and wistfulness. Clever use of an Opus III sample mixed with ragga chants, and a chattering controlling breakbeat gives way to a solo piano line aimed at triggering those long lost memories.

On the flipside, the Finnish production team of Nervous+Anxious that's best known for their piano heavy anthems for labels such as Enormous Mouse and Hardcore Projektz turn in their first ever pure darkside track entitled "Twisted Mental", and what a stunner it is -- moody strings and hoovers envelop you in a world of darkness before being assaulted with a heavily punctuated Apache break, and the latter half of the track sees some seriously intense 303 action going on. Finally, the release is rounded out with DJ Deluxe's unstoppable Star Wars sampling "Bad Feeling" -- a track that so utterly defies classification that a new name must be coined in order to accurately describe it -- and that name is "Barry-Core". Yes, DJ Deluxe's track is the very first Barry-Core tune. Supremely dark, dirty, and filthy, this track takes all the best parts of inspiration from yesteryear and mashes them together into 152 BPMs worth of in your face rawness.

As is what we hope becomes standard practice for Repetitive Beats, the first 100 copies will be limited editions that are pressed on colored vinyl, and this time around it will be a black and red "blood-splattered" edition. If you've seen the LEs of the first release... well, it won't look like that, but it'll still look pretty damned wicked! So be sure to get those preorders in early -- and you can do just that at our ordering page right here! We are hoping to have test presses ready to go by the end of this month, and the full pressing shortly thereafter in mid-March. Also, there's still a handful of limited edition versions of 12RB001 left for all those interested.

Be sure to keep checking back for all the latest information on this release, and while you're at it, please feel free to add the new Repetitive Beats Record Label Myspace page to your friends list... we're going to be updating it with more clips, blog postings, and possibly even some wallpapers in the near future! Ooh, wallpapers.

      Until next time,

Quick Website Update
Just a few brief words from me today. Good news (to me) is the fact that we're now down to our last ten copies in stock of the limited edition pressing of 12RB001. I'm amazed at the success so far of this release, so many thanks to everyone who's bought a copy and spun the tunes! If you have a Discogs account please visit the release entry page for it and add it to your collection. As I said that's good news for me but not so good news for you if you haven't already scored one for yourself; once they're gone that's it, they're not going to be repressed, so don't miss out!

You might have noticed a new link on the menu up top for "Mixes" -- basically, I'm going to be spotlighting any mixtapes or live sets that use Repetitive Beats tracks in them, so if you are spinning these tunes out or using them in your sets, let me know -- I want to hear it! In fact I'll even host your set on this site for at least six months. Just get in touch with me via any of the usual methods and we'll work it out.

Things are moving forward with 12RB002, almost have a final tracklisting done which should be announced either Friday or Monday, and once that's sorted out I hope to have it off to press by the end of the month if all goes well. Pre-orders will start once I announce that tracklisting. As mentioned previously the limited edition this time around is going to be on bloodsplattered vinyl, which should look pretty awesome, but once again is going to be limited to about 100 copies (maybe more if the plant does an over-run).

Finally, there's one additional link up top that's now functional, and that's the links page. I'm aiming to make this the most comprehensive set of links for hardcore breaks labels, forums, stations, and shops. And even doing something different, I'm also compiling a list of those ubiquitous Myspace pages as well -- so far I have over 90 different links to Myspace pages for HCB DJs, artists, labels, and so on. If I'm missing anything you know the drill... just get in touch with me and I'll get you added up there!

      Keep it hardcore,

"Return Of The Darkside EP" Finally In Stock!
So, after more than four months after it being originally announced, I'm glad to finally say that the first Repetitive Beats label release, DJ Purity Control's "Return Of The Darkside" EP, is now in stock and shipping to all preorderers! Thanks for your patience, I know it's been a long time coming, but thankfully we've now got all our copies in stock of both the limited edition marbled blue + black version (which, can I just say, looks absolutely awesome), as well as the standard pure black vinyl edition. The limited editions are still only available through this website, and the regular edition should be showing up at the usual suspects for hardcore breaks in the very near future -- I will be posting links to them once they get it in stock as well.

If you haven't yet ordered your own copy of this release, please visit the order page and get your limited edition copy while they are still available!

Now that this first release is finally out the door, we're going to be concentrating our focus on the next release, 12RB002, the "Into The Woods EP". This will be a four track various artist EP. I hope to announce the final tracklisting for it within the next week, so please keep checking back for that, but needless to say it will feature the title track from me, as well as three tracks on the darker tip from some well known artists in the hardcore breaks scene. We will be once again doing a limited edition for all preorderers, which will be pressed on... heh heh heh... "blood-splattered" vinyl. You'll see. :)

We are looking for new talent as well for future releases; if you have hardcore breaks / jungle techno tracks, we want to hear them. Get in contact with us via any of the methods listed at the bottom of the page! We're also going to be populating a links page to other hardcore breaks labels and artists, so if you have any banners or anything like that, be sure to get in touch. And finally, the label's Myspace page should be up and running soon, so if you're on there, check back next week for that address (but in the meantime, feel free to add me if you want).

      Until next time,

Repetitive Beats Label Launch; 12RB001 Announced!
I'm pleased to finally announce the launch of the Repetitive Beats record label, a new hardcore breaks label focusing more on the darker side of the spectrum. The first release will be 12RB001, the "Return Of The Darkside EP" by DJ Purity Control. All the tracks are in a '93 darkside jungle techno style as popularized by artists such as Dave Charlesworth, Bizzy B, and Tango & Ratty. This includes two mixes of the schizophrenic "Psychoromance", the eerie strings and stabs of "Angel Attack", and the chopped up amens of "The Nightmare Track". You can listen to clips of the four tracks on this EP below:

      A1: Psychoromance (Original Addiction)
      A2: Angel Attack (Unit One)
      B1: Psychoromance (Withdrawal Remix)
B2: The Nightmare Track (Wet Dream Mix)

I'm expecting this EP to be released sometime this November, 2006. And as a special gift to the early supporters, the first 90 preorders will receive a limited edition colored pressing on marbled blue and black vinyl! There may also be one or two additional surprises to be found once the vinyl is in your hands, so keep your eyes open. ;)

There are two big ways you can help support a successful launch of this label ->

1. Pre-Order A Copy
The item is currently available for preorder at the price of £5.99 GBP / $11.50 USD per copy, plus shipping costs. I know the price is a bit on the high side, and I hope to make it up in the future with lower prices on upcoming releases. Please visit the order page to secure a copy via payment through Paypal.

2. Purchase Preowned Records From The Webshop
All items for sale at the current moment through the Repetitive Beats webshop will go to fund the pressing and distribution of the Repetitive Beats record label. You can browse over 500 items for sale with full pictures and soundclips on the older GEMM site or the older Discogs sales page, or view more than 1500 more additional items for sale at the new Discogs sales page. And until the 15th of October, to provide an additional incentive, all items are buy two get one free; out of every three items you purchase, the lowest priced one is absolutely free -- you just pay the cost of shipping.

If all goes well with this first release, I hope to be able to provide you with more releases in the future. The second release is tenatively being penciled in as a Various Artists release, and am actively interested in hearing what you've got. If you have a demo or finished track you'd like to be considered for inclusion on future releases, please get in touch with me via e-mail (be sure to remove the nospam part before sending the message), as dj_purity_control on Discogs, as djpurityconrol on Myspace, as Purity Control on the Back To The Oldskool Forums, or on AIM / MSN as "PureCtrl".

      Thanks for checking us out,
